Internship went by quickly this week. School was only Monday and Tuesday because of the holiday. Monday was a very relaxing day for my children. I once again played in the ball pit with a child until he was so relaxed he fell asleep. I also fed a child pureed food for breakfast and lunch. This was a lot easier than when I port-feed a child on my first day. I worked with another student to help her with her strength and coordination. I had to try to get her to grab a rattle and then get her to shake it. It sounds simple and easy but it was difficult. She doesn’t have the muscle to firmly grip the rattle, so it often soars through the air when she shakes it. I eventually had success with her and she was so excited she was smiling and screaming.
On Tuesday there was a party in my classroom with all kinds of pastries. I had a college student in my class doing her internship so she could graduate. It was her last day so everyone was celebrating to congratulate her. There were so many people in and out of the room the children all got plenty of attention. It was a sad day because it was the last day for all but one of my students. It was sad to see them leave for the summer knowing I wouldn’t get to spend the last two weeks I’m here with them. Everyone in my classroom ended the day in the ball pit. The three students left in my class, two college students, and I all climbed into it. It was fun and the children loved it. It was a great last day before summer for the children in my classroom.
